- Name

What this site does
ModApproved is a static directory. It sets no cookies, loads no third-party scripts, and shows no advertising. The only data processing happens in the three places described below: hosting, usage statistics, and your own browser.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., USA. To deliver a page, Vercel's servers process the technical data of your request, such as your IP address, the page requested, and your browser type. We do not use this data to identify you.
Usage statistics
On the production site we use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. Both are cookieless. To count a visitor once, Vercel computes a hash of the incoming request and discards it after 24 hours; it is never stored with the page view. What we receive are aggregated page views, referrers, countries, device types, and web-vitals measurements. No cookies or local storage are set, and no profile of you is built.
Before a page view leaves your browser, our code removes e-mail addresses, long identifiers, and secret-looking query values from the URL.
Forms
The contact, listing, claim, and matching forms currently run in demo mode: nothing you submit is sent to us or stored anywhere. When the forms go live, this policy will be updated first and the forms will say what happens to your request.
Your browser's storage
Two features keep data in your browser's sessionStorage, which is cleared when you close the tab: the matching form keeps an unfinished draft of your answers so a page reload does not lose them, and the comparison feature keeps the listings you selected for a side-by-side view. Nothing in sessionStorage is sent to us. The full inventory is on the cookie policy page.
Purposes
We process the data described above to deliver the site securely and reliably, and to understand, in aggregate, which pages are read and how fast they load so we can improve them.
Legal basis
Hosting and usage statistics, including the short-lived request hash, rely on our legitimate interest in operating and improving a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because no cookies or storage keys are read from your device for these purposes, no consent is required. The sessionStorage keys are strictly necessary for the features you choose to use.
Recipients and transfers
Our only processor is Vercel Inc., USA, which hosts the site and provides the usage statistics. Vercel acts under its Data Processing Agreement, which includes the EU standard contractual clauses for transfers outside the European Economic Area. We do not sell personal data and share it with no one else.
Retention
The analytics request hash is discarded after 24 hours. Aggregated statistics contain no personal reference and are kept for as long as we run the site. sessionStorage data stays in your browser until you close the tab. Form entries are not stored at all while the forms run in demo mode.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for:
- Access: a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure: deletion of your data where there is no longer a reason to keep it.
- Restriction: a limit on how we process your data while a question is resolved.
- Objection: that we stop processing based on legitimate interest, including the analytics request hash.
- Portability: the data you gave us in a structured, machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the e-mail address above. Because we hold no data that identifies individual visitors, most requests will be answered by confirming that fact.
Complaints
If you believe we process your data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We are established in the United States and have no lead supervisory authority in the EU; if you live or work in the EU, the UK or Switzerland, you can complain to the data protection authority of that country.
Changes
We update this policy whenever the site starts processing data differently. The date at the top of the page shows the last revision.
